Handcrafted Stone Fire Surrounds

We are a Yorkshire-based business that specialises in individually designed, hand-crafted stone fire surrounds.

Our York Minster Apprentice-trained stonemasons are able to create a fireplace of your design and specifications, or you can choose from existing styles here on our website or at our showroom. We also provide stone flooring and architectural stonemasonry.

All our sandstone and limestone is locally quarried in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and County Durham, ensuring we use the finest in quality. Having been established for over 20 years, we have worked throughout the UK offering our unique bespoke service.

Featured on BBC2’s ‘Restoration Home’

We featured in on BBC2’s ‘Restoration Home’, hosted by Caroline Quentin, in 2012 and again in 2014, for our work at the historic thirteenth century building, Coulton Mill, in North Yorkshire. This project was started in 2011, and we supplied two hand carved limestone fire surrounds, as well as limestone floors to the dining room and kitchen. The fireplaces were designed to reflect the customers ideas and specifications. The limestone used for this work was a locally sourced material, Tadcaster limestone, which is also used on the restoration of York Minster.

Following the broadcast of the first episode we were invited to appear again on the show. This time, Kieran Long visited our workshop and spent a day learning about this traditional craft from Robin, and trying his hand at stone carving.
